In January 2014, effective date May 1, 2014, Marcus Hook Borough was awarded a Class 3 local fire protection rating by the Insurance Service Office, Inc. (ISO).   The Borough was last rated in 2005 at which time its protection class rating was Class 4.  Improving to a Class 3 rating means the Borough’s fire suppression services are keeping up with the demands of a changing environment.  In 1997 the rating was Class 5.  The rating places our community in the top 10% of communities throughout the nation with the best fire protection.  ISO’s primary contact during their visit to Marcus Hook was John Clausen, the Borough’s Fire Chief.
